Glorious Goodwood Day 4

Wild Coco gave me a winner yesterday to break this run of 2nd places that I’ve have. Hopefully that will start a run of success starting with the first two races on day four.

Masterstorke comes here with the best form in this race, with his Arc third last year. However that was last year on heavy ground and a look through his form shows that he hasn’t run on anything with ‘firm’ in the description, so you’d have to think the drying ground may go against him on a seasonal reappearance. This is also his first race outside of France.

With the ground likely to be against Aiken too I am taking my view on this race by looking at the form of The Wolferton at Royal Ascot. The first two home in that were Forgotten Voice and Sheikhzayedroad. That race was on Good to Firm, but they both have form on all types of ground. Jonny Murtagh is on form at the moment with five wins from ten rides in the last two weeks, so want Forgotten Voice on my side.

Sheikhzayedroad was only half a length behind at Ascot but looks a real improve, this longer trip should give him a very good chance of reversing that result, especially when you look back at the handicap he won on Derby day. I can split these two so I’m backing both of them as they hold the best recent form.

The line of form to go with in this looks to be the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot. Montridge was a head 2nd to Gale Force Ten in that with Tawid back in 3rd. Garswood, 4th that day, came here and won on Tuesday. Richard Hughes has chosen to stick with him for this which puts him ahead of Baltic Knight, a horse who Montridge beat in September last year.

If Montridge runs to the form he has shown he should win this and continue the excellent week that Richard Hannon is having.
