I don’t know what happened with Toronado yesterday, he ran no sort of race and maybe he’s just bottomed out for a 3 year old. The most disappointing aspect for me though was the fact that in the end I called the market movemnets wrong. When I place my money at 3.00 (2/1) and then saw the price start coming in down to a low of 2.50 (6/4) I was happy enough, then when the on-course market opened up he drifted out to 3.50 (5/2) in places. However no matter how many times I looked over that race prior to the off would I have picked Declaration of War, he had no form to suggest he’d beat both Al Kazeem and Toronado. But that’s one of the reasons I love racing, sometimes it just leaves me scratching my head with another puzzel to solve.

THE FUGUE is a horse I have follwed over the last two seasons. She’s been very profitable to me in the To be Placed markets. Of her ten starts she has only been out of the placing twice. Once when 4th in the 1000 Guineas at 22/1 and last time out when up against the boys in the Eclipse. She scoped badley after that run so if you put a line through that she is a consistent top class performer.
The reasons that I generally back her to place is due to the way they run with her. She is a hold up horse who always comes burtsting through at the end. Due to this she has often found trouble in running or not been able to reel in the front runners before the line. She’ll love the quick ground at York and the long wide finishing straight.
There are some classy horses in this including Wild Coco and who was a winner for me last time out. However I can’t find three that will finish in front of her. She’s going to be my biggest bet of this meeting and although the odds are short I fully expect her to show her class. I’m expecting her to win but I’m not goign to change the way I’ve been betting on this horse over the last couple of years.
