The Fugue showed her class yesterday to give me some profits, which was pleasing after the news came out that Toronado had a collapsed soft palate.
I had today all planned in my head and thought it was the day Shea Shea would get the win he ‘deserves’ in Britain. However there was 20mm of rain last night which seriously harms his chances and I can’t be backing him now, so I’m leaving the Nunthorpe alone. I’m hoping he wins though as he is a top class sprinter.

Ascot Gold Cup 2nd SIMENON comes to York with current big race jockey Johnny Murtagh on board. Murtagh has a 23% strike rate this season and that increases to 32% with 4 year olds and over.
In the Ascot Gold Cup Simenon had Times Up and Colour Vision in behind and there’s no reason to think that form will be reversed. On a form line through Estimate, Ascot Gold Cup winner, he should also be able to hold Caucus due Estimate beating him by 1 1/2 lengths. When Estimate beat Simenon at Ascot the winning distance was a half length.
As always there are many variables and collateral form lines in these 2m+ flat races. However Simenon carries the best current form so has to be the selection.
