The Championship 21st September

Blackpool’s impressive start to the season came to a halt on Tuesday night when they were beaten 3-1 at Millwall. Despite Blackpool taking the lead the offered nothing in the 2nd half and collapsed under pressure from the home side. That result should signal the beginning of their drop back to the level they should be at, which in my opinion is somewhere around 16th place.

Leicester are genuine title contenders and are starting to look like one of the best sides in this league. They’ve won five of their seven games this season, with their only defeat coming at Charlton. Their last two wins have been against Blackburn and Wigan, who themselves should be up challenging for the top six come May.

Leicester have the quality to win this match and with their defensive qualities I can see a Blackpool side who struggle to create chances in general failing to score.

This already has the feeling of a match-up between a top two side and a bottom two side. QPR have been solid and haven’t really looked in danger of losing all season. They are currently on a run of five league clean sheets in a row and it would have been six if not for a last minute Leeds equaliser on the second weekend. Yeovil have already managed to go on a run of ¬†four games without scoring and that would of been five if they hadn’t scored in the last minute on the opening weekend. Despite Yeovil scoring once at Sheffield Wednesday and once at Ipswich I struggle to see them scoring here. The gulf in class between these two sides is class, they may be in the same division this season but QPR still have a squad that is of Premier League quality, whilst Yeovil’s looks more at home in League One.

QPR will control this game, keep the ball well and will overpower Yeovil. I can’t see Yeovil keeping them out and without the ball they’re going to struggle to score against the best defence in the league.
