Whilst I’m looking forward to this game, being a Crystal Palace fan, I’m not expecting it to be a great match. My goal expectancy for both sides is less than one, on account of Palace failing to score in 8 of 13 games and West Ham failing to find the next on 7 of their 13 matches. Add into that Palace only conceding an average of 9.54 shots per game and them not making many mistakes I struggle to see how West Ham create enough away from home to really trouble Palace. West Ham average 10 shots against them this season and already have the same number of clean sheets as Place have goals, 7!
So we have two teams who don’t score many goals and from their 26 games combined Both Teams To Score – Yes has landed 7 times. Yet despite all of this we can get odds-against on Both Teams NOT to score.
If there were strong stats pointing to both these teams scoring then you would be seeing both teams to score priced at sub 1.70, however nobody ever seems to react or wants to back ‘no’ when the stats show that goals may be at a premium.
We may be treated to a goalfest but it looks unlikely based on the above and even more so when you see that it’ll be Tony Pulis and Sam Alardyce shaking hands before kick-off.
