Cheltenham Festival Day 2

Day Two of the best week of the year will hopefully bring a couple more winners and produce another profit like yesterday. Wins for Vautour and Quevega have put me in a nice position for the week. The downside of yesterday was neither Hurricane Fly or My Ten Or Yours winning, which means I won’t be collecting on some accumulators come Friday afternoon and if that’s the only downer of my week I’ll be more than happy. The upside of yesterday, apart from the profit, was the sun being out and the quality of women about, they really scrubbed up well this year.

The second day is usually a quieter betting day for me and today won’t be much different;

Ballycasey is the favourite in this race, however he fell whilst being schooled at Leopardstown last week and for that reason I can’t be backing him. With Annacotty and Corrin Wood in the race on genuine quick ground, we could see a lot of them at it a long way from home. CORRIN WOOD has to be my section as I think he can steal this from the front, he already has form against Black Thunder, who in turn has beaten Many Clouds, who in turn has form matched with O’Faolains Boy.  At around 12.0 (11/1) I think he’s a definite each-way play, he should have no issues with the pace or the trip and going out in front it will be up to others to catch him.

I was initially going to take Sire De Grugy on in this race, due to these doubts about him going left handed. the I realised I was being an idiot, it’s not like he’s Arvike Legieonniere who jumps to the right at every fence. SIRE DE GRUGY has been beaten twice at Cheltenham already, once by Kid Cassidy conceding 10lbs and I expect that to be reversed today off level weights. The other horse who beat him at Cheltenham was Captain Conan, a horse who has done well for me in the past and with only one run this season, 3rd behind Sire De Grugy at Sandown I can’t be backing him. If the only question marks over the Jamie Moore mount are whether finishing 2nd at Cheltenham twice means he doesn’t like the track then I’m happy to put my money up on him.

This is the time to get on the phone to the people that opened Coral accounts for the Quevega bet yesterday. They are going 5.00 (4/1) from 8:30 am this morning, the maximum bet is £20, but obviously if you have got girlfriends, mums, wives etc with newly opened and funded accounts use them for this.
