The form of last years 2 year old fillies is all over the place. Therefore in this early part of the season I’m sticking to my shortlist of horses. That list includes SANDIVA. I believe her run at Longchamps last time out can be ignored as a mile on soft ground isn’t really her forte.
The first two wins of her career were on good to firm ground over five and six furlongs. She then went to Royal Ascot where again on Good to Firm ground she ran a good race. She came 2nd to Kiyoshi who has some excellent for tied in with Vorda and Rizeena. In behind her that day she had Joyeuse, Wedding Ring and Lucky Kristal who have all shown promise since that race.
That piece of form alone may be enough for her to win this race. He run after that came at Deauville where she won a Group 3 over 7 furlongs, quickening well inside the final 200 meters. That run shows that we should have no doubts about her getting 7 furlongs on good ground.
With conditions in her favour today I’m amazed to see her priced up at 4.50 (7/2). On what she’s shown she is the best horse in this race, therefore with natural improvement from two to three she is still the one to beat.
