I can’t see why SOLE POWER isn’t favourite for this race. The best bit of five furlong sprint form this season was the Al Quoz at Meydan in March, Sole Power finished 7th that day. Since then the horse who finished 5th and 6th have both had winning runs. With Sole Power also winning his next race after Meydan, I don’t think many can argue with the form from it.
Sole Powers win came at Newmarket in The Palace House Stakes, he had Hot Streak, Kingsgate Native, Pearl Secret and Justineo in behind that day. He has form form over his rivals, he’s shown that he is a class horse, he doesn’t looking to be regressing and has the best jockey in Ryan Moore on board.
The only negative is the potential for soft ground, although he has form on soft from early in his career and a 5th on heavy in The Abbey, it’s not seen as his preferable surface. However if it gets too soft I expect him to be a non-runner so we’ll get our money back in that scenario.
As I say time and time again, class horses win races. Sole Power is the proven class horse in this race, therefore I don’t see why he’s priced up at 5.00 (4/1).
