LONG JOHN was staying on at the end of The Summer Mile at Ascot two weeks ago and if he can reproduce something like that he may go very close here. He was so impressive when he won the UAE 2000 Guineas, but then bombed out on World Cup night in The Derby. It may be that he doesn’t stay 10 furlongs, but he doesn’t carry a penalty from when he won a Group One in Australia, so he’s actually receiving weight from all but one of his rivals.
Windhoek won a Listed race at Sandown well at the beginning of the month, but this is a step up for him, he’s already failed to get his head in front in a couple of Group Three’s this season so that would have to be a worry. Danadana hasn’t shown me anything that want to make me part with my money.
I think that Long John is the best horse in the race and if he stays he wins.
