GROWL is the one I want to side with in this interesting two-year-old race. The Meehan horse was very impressive when easily winning his maiden over six furlongs at Ascot last time out and he defiantly looks like he should improve for the step up to seven furlongs. On a breeding note he’s out of Oasis Dream and also has Storm Cat from the Mares side, that all means that 7 furlongs is near perfect for him. At 7.00 I think he’s the bet to have in a race which should provide his optimal conditions at this stage of his career.

I have no idea why they ran KINGSTON HILL in The Eclipse over ten furlongs last time out. That’s not his best trip and I don’t think he has the speed for that. Back over twelve furlongs today should see him return to the form that had him finishing 2nd in The Derby. I see him as the only one of these that can go at a true Group One pace, therefore if he needs to make the running or take it up at the top of the straight I have no worries. However I would expect to see Hartnell setting the pace with GranddukeofTuscany snapping at his heel. The O’Brien runner is the one that I fear most, he won his maiden by 19 lengths and is unexposed, however there hasn’t been any vibes about this horse before that race, so I’m not sure how highly the stable rate him, they usually like to hype-up their good ones.

I rate AUSTRALIA higher over ten furlongs, then I do Taghrooda over twelve. We all saw the way she put Telescope and Mukhadram away in The King George at Ascot a few weeks ago and I’m expecting to see something similar from this years Derby winner today. He receives a 8lbs advantages at the weights from the older horses and even in Joseph O’Brien does put up 2lbs overweight I’d still fancy him. In fact I’m sort of hoping he does so the price might drift a bit before the off (back using a Best Odds Guaranteed bookie). He has his optimal conditions in terms of trip and ground today so their should be no excuses. I rate him a near 1.50 shot, so even though he’s 1.66 for this I’m still going to get involved.
