York Ebor Festival – Day 1

STORM THE STARS is the obvious selection here. The Derby 3rd and Irish Derby 2nd had Giovanni Canaletto behind him on both those occasions.

The other O’Brien horses, Aloft and Bondi Beach, also need to be avoided. If the trainer didn’t believe that either were good enough to run in The Derby, then I see no reason to think they’ll be good enough for this.

Balios comes here under a penalty for his Group success at Royal Ascot and having been beaten by Storm The Stars on his first run this season it would appear that he will now have a tougher task on his plate.

Storm The Stars comes into this race with the form edge over the field and also receiving 3lbs from his biggest rival, he should be shorter than the 4.50 (7/2) on offer.
