York Ebor Festival – Day 2

Lumiere is way to short in the betting for this, yes she was very impressive on debut but she doesn’t appear to have beaten much. She’s open to plenty of improvement, however so was Acapulco yet she was allowed to go off at 3.50 (5/2) and was even 6.00 (5/1) in the morning.

The two to concentrate on in this race are Queen Mary Stakes 2nd and 3rd EASTON ANGEL and BESHARAH. Neither of them were a match for Acapulco that day, but they both ran with credit.

Besharah came out of that race and finished 2nd to the very Illuminate in a Group Two at The July Meeting. Easton Angel finished 5th, promoted to 4th, that day as she was badly hampered. The 3rd home, Blue Bayou, has come out and won a Group Three since, so the form has a solid look to it.

Besharah’s next start was in a Group Three at Ascot, where she was simply too good for the field. I don’t think there’s much between her and Easton Angel, so I would rather back both of them at 2.75 (7/4) than a once raced maiden winner who could be overrated on what we know so far, at a shorter price.
