GLOBAL APPLAUSE sets the form standard in this, he won The National Stakes last month and that form has been franked by Mehmas finishing second in The Coventry on Tuesday. Five furlongs is his ideal trip and he won’t have to make all his own running this time. He is drawn in four, with the likely pace horses of Plata O Plomo and Prince of Cool drawn in one and two.

Blue De Vega appeals on form lines with his third in the Irish 2000 Guineas, but he has to carry a penalty her, is drawn one and has Keiron Fallon on board. If it was only one of those negatives I’d be happy to back him at the prices, but all three and the price becomes less attractive. I prefer the chances of PRIZE MONEY, he shaped well on his return to action at Newmarket and then followed it up with a good second to Algometer at Goodwood last time out. He’s lightly raced and there should be some improvement to come.
BACK PRIZE MONEY at 7.50 (Ladbrokes, Paddy Power)

Architecture finished second in The Oaks, which is the strongest form on offer, but that race was two weeks ago and it was a tough race. I think that it’s likely this run will come too soon for her. Even Song was a bit of a talking horse before the Epsom Classic, but didn’t line up. She’s sure to be well popular in this due to connections and her run in The Pretty Polly. I don’t see what all the fuss was about that run myself, yes she didn’t get a clear run and stayed on well but Swiss Range was very impressive. The horse that finished second that day was CHICADORO, she was almost three lengths in from of Even Song, but was also staying on well. She is over twice the price today and for me has to be the value in the race. When you add in that on her final start of 2015 she won a maiden of soft ground with Architecture back in third, the price becomes even more attractive.

Order of St. George’s demolition job in The Irish St. Ledger sees him priced up as favourite for this race. However I can’t back him at the odds, I just think he’s too short. He only returned to the racecourse a couple of weeks ago after having some issues, that’s not the ideal preparation for a race like this. At the odds I’d much rather have the entire field, including horses like Max Dynamite, Clever Cookie, Flying Officer and Mizzou running for me.
