This looks like an excellent opportunity for TRIP TO PARIS to return to winners’ enclosure. Last years ascot Gold Cup winner will get his preferred ground and come into this race fresher than he did last season. He’s only had the one runt his year, last month and Newbury, where he did well to finish third over ten furlongs after 256 day break. That distance is too short for him and the step up to over two miles (16f) a massive positive.
Clever Cookie runs well at the track and has been in great form this season. I expect him to go well but I feel Trip to Paris is a better horse and will be able to get the better of him. Pallasator is talented but I’d want a bigger price than 5.00 for him as you just never know what you’re going to get, sometimes he looks brilliant and others he just can’t be bothered to run his race. Quest for More has disappointed me this season and I don’t want him to be carrying my money. I don’t think that Wicklow Brave, Curbyourenthusiasm or Suegioo are good enough to beat one of Clever Cookie or Trip To Paris. I would be happy to back the selection at nearer 3.00, so I’ll be a backer at the 4.00 on offer.

A very interesting seven furlong race in which I think it’s worth siding with the three year-olds. Nemoralia brings Group 1 from to the table after her second in The Coronation Stakes, behind the very talented Qemah. She then also ran a big race in the Group 1 Jean Prat at Chantilly, finishing fourth. However at the prices she isn’t one I want to side with. Librisa Breeze is stepping up in class and I expect to see him run well, however the form of his two big handicap successes hasn’t worked out too well, so I have to pass over him at the current prices.
FORGE is the bet to have in this race for me, the form of his third placed finish behind Zonderland has worked out well, with the winner taking a Group 3 at Salisbury earlier this month. He then finished third in The Jersey Stakes (Group 3) behind Thikriyaat and Ribchester. Since that race Ribchester finished a close up third in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes, before winning the Group 1 Jacques le Marois last week. Last time out Forge just finished behind Thikriyaat at Goodwood, however that rival doesn’t re-oppose today. I think the level of form of the Jersey Stakes is strong and worth following.

You can make a case for most of the field here, so I’ve got to oppose Limato at the price. He’s dropping back down to five furlongs for the first time and to me it just seems that they want to have some fun with this horse now. He’s talented, but as a gelding he has no stud career so the owners might as well get a few days out and try to pick up some big pots.
The horse that I have to back in this is EASTON ANGEL, I’ve backed her on her last two starts where jockey error has cost her the race. Finally Frankie Dettori gets the ride on here and I expect that to make the difference. She should have won at York earlier in the season, so the track won’t be an issue. She finished like a train at Goodwood after the Mulrennan messed her around at the start. I believe she is a true Group 1 class sprinter and she should get the chance to show that today. With Yalta drawn 19 Frankie will be able to get a nice tow into the race before unleashing her turn of foot.
